Avoca House Labyrinth dedicated to World Peace
This labyrinth in the backyard of Avoca House is dedicated to World Peace. You are welcome to come and walk it.
Medieval 7 cirucit labyrinth design
The labyrinth is constructed from stones collected mainly from the South Island rivers and including some from as far away as Sweden and Norway. It is a Medieval
7-circuit labyrinth of the Ravenna/Serlio-type, based on the Watts Chapel labyrinths, Compton, Surrey, UK. I first saw it in a picture by Jeff Saward in Virginia Westbury's "Labyrinths, Ancient paths of wisdom and peace."
Personal response to 9/11
This labyrinth was built as my personal response to September 11th 2001 when I suddenly realised that peace in my world begins with me; that I can be the difference that makes a difference and work towards world peace by learning to hold peace in my own heart.
Walk the Labyrinth
The labyrinth is accessable to be walked at any time. I prefer that you ask permission. (It gives me a chance to talk to another labyrinth enthusiast.)
The Avoca House labyrinth was built in March 2002 with the help of friends with a truck!
