About the Speights Coast to Coast triatholon
The Speight's Coast to Coast is one of the most grueling triatholons in the world. The Speight's Coast to Coast triathalon traverses the South Island of New Zealand, starting at Kumara Beach on the West Coast, crossing the Southern Alps and ending up at Sumner Beach inChristchurch on the East Coast.
This multi sport event is over one or two days and is open to individuals or teams. It consists of a 140kms of cycling in 3 stages (55km, 15km & 70km), running across the Southern Alps (33km) and kayaking the Waimakariri River (67kms of grade two through the Waimakariri Gorge). The total distance is 243kms which takes top competitors just under 11 hours. (The slowest time ever recorded was 24.5 hours.)
Entries for Speights Coast to Coast
Entries open for the event on June 1st each year. Overseas competitors have until December 31 to enter.
There are $60,000NZD worth of prizes, finishers medals for all, two dinners, a souvineer shirt and a cold can of Speight’s (beer from the South) for those brave enough to dare.
