I believe that colour in the labyrinth takes this to a deeper level.
Each of my portable labyrinths are lovingly painted by hand. The large silk portable labyrinths are hand-dyed with brilliant New Zealand made dyes and then steam set in the traditional way to set the true vibrancy of the colours. It is a labourious process giveing the colour an intensity not possible with the quicker, more modern dyeing methods.
The labyrinths are very portable, and surprisingly strong and resilent. These portable labyrinths are made of a strong silk charmeuse (16mm creped back silk satin). Each labyrinth weighs around 1kg (2.2lbs), are easily carried and can be used in a variety of situations; for personal use at home, in workshops, with clients, in dance or creativity exploration, on vacation or even as a bed cover.
The silks labyrinths are washable and are best used indoors on a smooth, even surface. (However, I often use mine on my wooden deck outside.) I suggest people wear socks when walking a silk labyrinth.

The beautiful handpainted silk portable labyrinths reach out on a physical and a metaphysical level, helping to bring balance to your mind, body and to your energy. They can help to reduce stress, increase clarity and bring colour & beauty into your life.
These portable labyrinths are a source of extra-ordinary energy, helping to stimulate you at a cellular level, to wake up the extra-ordinary that is within us all but which is often buried under the busy-ness of our lives today. When you walk the labyrinth you are re-minded at a cellular level of your own beauty because the silk is a reflection of who you are.
You may want to use this portable labyrinth in a number of ways. You can walk it, lie on it, wrap yourself in it, place it on your bed or on the wall. You can use it with clients or groups.
Colours of my "Ancestral Memories"
At the moment I am painting two different large silk portable labyrinths in my interpretation of water colours, fire colours. I am also working on creating one in earth colours. My work with these labyrinths (and in fact with most of my silk) is to bring colour and beauty to life (mine and others).
As a pakeha (white New Zealander) I felt disconnected from my roots in the past. Working with the colour on silk, and particularly with the silk labyrinths, I have found my roots in the depths of my memories.
How I work
I combine passions and my artistic talents with my intuitive and healing gifts to create these silks. My work is the result of the alchemy of silk & colour, salt & steam, feeling & form, then letting go to allow the magic of all these elements to play together. The end result is enhanced by the very special energies of the beautiful and sacred mountain valley where I live.
