Sharing Good Fortune, Gratitude and Peace globally

Good Fortune "is not something you wish for; It's something you make,
Something you do, Something you are, And something you give away"

Good Fortune prayer flag dream
We are currently helping with 2 refugees who have dreams that are becoming a reality because of people like you. By buying a set of these flags you take the opportunity to give and receive; to participate in the greater tapestry of life. I believe that every act of kindness makes a difference.

We are raising money for a Tibetan refugee monk who is applying for residency in a country where he has freedom of choice to practice his religion; where he can talk about and receive teachings from His Holiness, The Dalai Lama. Although he can support himself in his day to day living, he needs a considerable sum of money to a make this application. If you would like to gift money directly to our monk - click here.

We are also raising money for a Tibetan refugee who is currently studying to be a teacher in India. A group of people got together and raised the money to pay his fees. However, he now needs money to support him while he studies. It doesn't take much.

By providing physical support for these refugees we are not only supporting them in their communities, we are also supporting our wider global community. In doing this we also open ourselves to receive. This is a win, win, win process.

"I am a Buddhist monk who practices infinite compassion and I pray on a daily basis for the happiness of the all sentient beings. I believe in the promotion of human values. I instinctively want a happy life for all the six billion of humanity because we are all part of them. If they are in difficulty, we also suffer. That is why I have committed fully and voluntarily in my concern for their well-being.”
His Holiness the Dalai Lama

About Good Fortune prayer flags

The intention of these “Good Fortune Flags” is to send good fortune around the world, touching all and making dreams become reality, making a global difference.

The Good Fortune prayer flags are individually hand-dyed and screen printed in the heart of the Southern Alps of New Zealand. They are a set of 7 prayer flags in rainbow colours with gold symbols. The symbols are ones that imply inner peace to me. (Use of the gratitude symbol was kindly allowed by www.gogratitude.com). The proceeds of the sale of these prayer flags go towards supporting Tibetan refugees in India and around the world.

Put the prayer flags up with the intention to enhance your own good fortune, give them to a friend with the intention to enhance their good fortune and know that by doing this you are also helping to increase good fortune globally. Each time the wind caresses them your intent for good fortune is carried on a journey to touch all sentient beings.

Good Forutne prayer flag size
Each flag measures 20cms wide x 27cms long (7.87" x 10.63"). There are 7 prayer flags in a set and the set measures approximately 1.4ms long (55.12") with string at each end for attaching.

Creating Global Families
Traditionally Tibetan Buddhist monks have a “family”. The monk looks after the family’s spiritual needs and the family looks after his physical needs. By moving out of Tibet to gain the freedom to practice their spiritual beliefs this supportive family relationship has been broken. We have an opportunity to rebuild this family support in a beautiful and more global way.

Colours and Symbols on the prayer flags

Prayer flags in the wind Prayer flags on the wind
I have used rainbow colours combined with universal symbols that are special to me. I have worked with colours for a long time and they lend their own gifts. It is amazing to me how well this arrangement of symbols fits in with the colours. This is what they mean to me. You may put your own interpretation on them.

Colours
The rainbow colours remind us that although we are all different races and ethinicities, together we make an amazing & beautiful pattern, the rainbow, a universal symbol of hope.

Green & gratitude symbol
The colour green is the colour of life, and is the great harmonising & balancing colour of the Universe. It is the colour for the heart chakra, the seat of the soul. Green helps to bring body, mind & spirit into balance to create wholeness. It brings calm, forgiveness & unconditional love creating peace. This colour is combined with the gratitude symbol to bring an awareness for all the miracles we have in our lives and brings gratitude to the heart of everything. (This gratitude symbol is copyright by www.gogratitude.com who have kindly given permission for its reproduction in these flags.)

Balance & integration in mind & voice
The colour yellow is for the mind and for personal power; blue is the colour for peace, self expression and communication. These colours are combined with the symbol of the labyrinth to invite peace and to remind us to bring balance and integration to our minds and our communications.

Om - visionary creation in motion
The colour indigo is for perception and vision and orange the colour for creation, opportunity and connection with others. Combined with the “Om” which is the symbol for creation in motion and “All that Is”, these flags invite visionary creation in motion.

Love binds all together
The colour red is a primal colour, the first colour of life, colour of life blood and the first colour of the rainbow. Red is our foundation. It grounds us and is linked to gratitude. Violet is the colour of the heart of the Universe in your hands and is the peace maker. Violet is made from red & blue, it combines power with gentleness, humility with wisdom. I have combined both red and violet with the symbol of the heart, (a stylised version with a koru or spiral) to invite power, grounding, wisdom and peace to the heart energy that embraces these prayer flags.

Good Fortune flags for weddings & special occasions
We have been asked on several occasions to produce blessing flags for weddings. So we have introduced the "write your own" Good Fortune prayer flags. These are rainbow coloured, embraced by a red and violet heart, leaving the middle 5 flags free for you to write your own blessings or prayers.

Flags at my son's wedding. Flags were sent out to all guests as many could not make it form overseas. They were asked to send the flags back with blessings for the newly weds. Some came back amazingly embellished.

Prayer Flag Tradition
For centuries, Tibetan Buddhists have hung sacred prayer flags from tree to tree, between rocks, across gateways, in fact, in any place where the wind can caress them. So hang your flags where they will give you most pleasure and remind you most of your good fortune.

Tibetans believe as the wind passes over the surface of the prayer flags, the air becomes purified, sanctified and sweetened by the intent of the prayers and images on the flags. Prayer flags are said to bring happiness, long life and prosperity to the person who put the prayer flags up and to all sentient beings.

"Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal."
Martin Luther King, Jr.
